Kate Russell
Kate Russell’s passion for music began early, singing solos in church at seven and performing in Chicago jazz clubs and radio stations as a teen. At 17, she joined the band Strange Outlook, with her father managing her career. She was set to appear on Star Search at 18, but her father’s sudden passing in 1986 shifted her focus to songwriting, expressing her emotions through music.
After marrying and raising a family, Kate returned to music by recording jingles and working with Grammy-winning producer Phil Banano. She later joined the Recording Academy, collaborated with various artists, such as Michael Jackson and Ted Nugent.
In 2007, her husband’s unexpected passing tested her resilience, but music remained her anchor. A later health scare threatened her ability to sing, but Kate defied the odds, making a powerful comeback. Now performing top 40 country music with her band According to Kate, she continues to inspire with her unwavering dedication to her craft.
Kate’s journey is one of perseverance and passion, sharing the voice her father always believed in.
